OUR
MINISTRIES

In following Jesus' example, Grace UMC members are dedicated to aiding our local community and the needs of those who are facing challenging times. Our mission activities include supporting local nonprofits, listed below, as well as serving our members, neighbors, communities in other areas of our country and globally.

Bright Futures

Bright Futures began in 2014 to help 69 children and 2 schools of Frederick County. Winchester City joined Bright Futures in 2017. Today they support more than1,200 students within 26 schools within Frederick County and Winchester City.

Grace UMC helps by providing a variety of breakfast and lunch items to support Bright Futures Back Pack Program, a weekend food packs on a weekly basis.

C-CAP

CCAP, Community Congregational Action Project, has been in existence since the mid-1970's.

CCAP is a community lifeline for all people in our area who find themselves struggling to meet basic needs, providing stability and security while enabling them to find paths to self-sufficiency.

Grace UMC members routinely provide a variety of food, personal items, and housing needs.

Other Ministries

Time to time we learn about a school, other members of our local community, or communities nationwide that have experienced a natural disaster who are in need help.

Earlier this year Grace UMC assisted with past due lunch accounts at the local elementary school. Grace members came together and collected more than the amount needed!!

We aided communities located in flooded areas of our country by providing cleaning supplies and buckets.

It's time to make some vegetable soup!

This team made 55 quarts of soup. We gave some to our older members and the rest went to C-CAP's Our Friendly Neighborhood Freedge!

Many hands make sandwich making quick and easy.

Opportunites
Grace Prayer Chain:
This reaches far and wide and is divided into a phone list prayer chain and an email prayer chain with a coordinator for each working closely with our Pastor.

Prayer Walks:
Throughout the year we have opportunity to walk and pray in our community of Middletown.
Prayer Shawl Group

Our Prayer Shawl group creates some beautiful shawls, hats, and scarves to provide celebration, comfort, a hug over the distance or for warmth to those who might need a bit to TLC!

The Prayer Shawl group meets monthly

throughout the year. Through generous donations they are able to use the gift they have been given to give back to others!

Society of St. Andrew

The Society of St. Andrew brings people together to harvest and share healthy food, reduce food waste, and build caring communities by nourishing hungry neighbors.

Throughout the year, Grace has various events in which money is donated to the Society of St. Andrews. In addition, this year, we will have a gleaning volunteer team. Look for more information on the event page later this summer.

Thrift Store

Our Thrift Store is open every Thursday and Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm. We do accept donations during this time, please do not leave items outside of these times by our doorstep ~ we do not wish for your items to get ruined by any precipitation that happens during our closed times!

Your donations and purchases at Grace's Thrift Shop has helped with providing monetary donations to several local ministries (some of those are listed above) and necessities for the church.
